Especially his mother -- while he understands the idea of a free spirit in theory, in practice it horrifies him. He really doesn't know how his father does it. It hasn't affected him too much; he didn't get one of the terrifying moon-names, just an old-fashioned one that suits him nicely. He inherited his mother's love of the arts and his father's love of order, and his blend of the two lets him keep his sanity when he's home. Moving around as a kid was never a problem for him; born in one place, shifted to another, but every town is the same when you're a quiet little nerd. The last time they moved, though, he actually decided to make the best of it. He straightened his shoulders, started talking to more people, and made some friends. He also decided on a course for his life -- while he wanted to be an artist, being a starving artist sounded miserable. Thus, he got a job that required very little contact with people, paid well for the training, and let him read on his lunches and leave on-time. He really would be pretty decently off if he didn't insist on keeping a 'writing office' -- a cramped, dusty little room he rents from the local church for a pittance and fills with the oddest and most exotic things he can find, the better to inspire himself. It was here he shuffled through several kinds of art before discovering poetry; simple pieces full of rhyme and reason, tidy and easily accomplished. So a poet he is, though save for one published piece he never shows his work to anyone, anymore.
